Dr Meg Withers completed her five year combined Bachelor of Clinical Science and Masters in Osteopathy at Victoria University in 2015. Since then, she has completed extensive training in women’s health, pelvic floor and pelvic health, pregnancy, birth preparation and postpartum care, paediatrics, paediatric bladder and bowel health, breast health and mastitis, and visceral manipulation. In addition to osteopathy, Meg also has a certificate in functional nutrition which she utilises to complement her Osteopathy treatments.
Meg treats the entire body and commonly sees people for pelvic girdle pain and back pain, hip and groin related injuries, headaches and neck pain, TMJ dysfunction and chronic health issues. She has a particular interest in pregnancy and postpartum care, pelvic health, the gut microbiome and bowel health.Â
In addition, Meg is one of a handful of Osteopaths in Australia who have completed extensive training in the treatment of the pelvic floor and pelvic health conditions. Meg completed her training through the Pelvic Health Institute of Australia; enabling her to provide internal pelvic floor assessments. She commonly assists patients with pelvic floor issues, postpartum check ups, bladder pain syndrome, vulvodynia, urinary urgency, urinary incontinence, constipation, pelvic organ prolapse, chronic pelvic pain such as coccydynia and endometriosis.Â
Meg has extensive training in pre and post natal care. She believes that prevention and education is key to a healthy pregnancy, birth and recovery. She has also completed training in ‘Spinning Babies’ for Optimal Maternal Positioning. Meg will educate you (and your support person) with proactive strategies and exercises, to ensure you have optimal spinal mobility and pelvic alignment to accommodate the complex changes of pregnancy. This allows your baby to get into an optimal position and sets you up for a positive birthing experience.
Meg has also completed further training in visceral osteopathy, a form of treatment to address the organs of the abdomen. Meg utilises these techniques in all treatments, but particularly for anyone with underlying digestive issues, such as reflux or constipation. Meg is also experienced with treating scar tissue and has found that old scars can hold tension which contribute to tightness or stiffness in your musculoskeletal system.
Meg has a holistic approach and will assess your whole body, and its complex systems, in order to get to the root cause of your issues. Meg believes that everyone should be their own health advocate and she will educate you on any digestive, immune or hormonal imbalances that may be contributing to your complaint.
