SIBO Family Favourites Cookbook Reviews

A million thanks to The Healthy Gut team for this inspiring collection of SIBO friendly recipes. I had been on the SIBO diet for two months and was really struggling to bring variety to my cooking. Too busy (and unwell) to be creative, I just kept falling back on the same safe recipes. And we can all agree how limiting and boring that can be! I was blown away by the coco-nutty-bites, they genuinely taste like truffles. After weeks of deprivation, discovering something so delicious, that was SIBO friendly, almost made me cry. I have been able to cook for my whole family from this recipe book, which is such a blessing because it’s difficult enough wrapping your head around the SIBO diet, without having to cook multiple meals! I would recommend this cookbook to anyone trying to treat SIBO, whether you’re new to the diet or have been on it for a while and need inspiration.

Cressida Blumson

In my years of treating SIBO, the most difficult commitment for my patients has been the SIBO diet. It is an intentionally restrictive diet to reduce the fermentation of food by bacteria in the small intestines. In addition to treatment, I designed this two-phased diet for people to follow for 3 months, but because it makes them feel so much better, people typically stay on it longer. Once treatment is completed, however, transitioning to a whole foods, varied diet is the goal. There are many resources for SIBO diets on the internet, but in my experience, most are far too lenient (or confusing) that can lead to SIBO relapses. I am so glad that Rebecca has written this book, and especially glad since she herself has overcome SIBO with the right treatment and diet protocol (as I recommend on www.sibotest.com). What better person to write this book than someone who has experienced it herself. The phased diet tables are easy to understand and the recipes are delicious. I am thankful that SIBO sufferers will now have this valuable tool to help them navigate through the treatment towards the path of health.

    1. No, there isn’t a vegetarian version of this cookbook. There is a chapter dedicated to vegetarian/vegan recipes in my new SIBO Soups eCookbook, and my next cookbook will be a completely vegetarian/vegan friendly book.

  1. Hi Rebecca, I have just been advised by my practitioner to start the Sibo diet. I love the look of your book and was wondering if/when your book (Aus. version) will available? With thanks, Kylie

    1. Hi Kylie
I have sold out of the printed edition of the book (I’m not sure if/when it will be back in stock), but you can purchase the electronic edition of it. Alternatively you might like to try the Summer Cookbook if you want a physical cookbook.

  2. Hi. Could you please kindly explain the key differences between the Australian and US versions of your cookbooks? I’m not sure which one I should get. Is it that the Australian one uses metric (eg. 100g of X ingredient) and the US one uses cups, tablespoons and teaspoons? Anything else?

    Many thanks.

    1. Rebecca Coomes

      Hi Lindsay
The Australian edition uses the metric system (cups, grams, kilos and spoon measurements), Celsius temperatures and Australian ingredient names. It is dispatched from Australia. The US edition uses the imperial system (cups, ounces, pounds and spoon measurements), Fahrenheit temperatures and American ingredient names. The hard copy book is dispatched from the US to US and Canadian addresses. The electronic version of the book is delivered via email immediately after purchase.
      I hope that helps!
      Rebecca

      1. Hi Rebecca,

That’s very clear. Thank you. It looks like the Australian version is most suitable for me as I’m most familiar with the metric system for cooking.

  3. Hello,
I want to follow the SIBO diet and have struggled to find reputable cook books until I came across your website.
I live in the UK and wondered how I might purchase your cook books.
    Please advise.
    Many thanks in advance.
    Kind regards,
    Rachel

    1. Hi Rachel
You can order my cookbooks through my website. You can order the electronic editions or the physical editions and they will be shipped to you.

  4. Lisa Stephenson

    Hi Rebecca,
Will any of your cook books be available to purchase in NZ? I would love to buy a few but the shipping costs way more than the book.
    Thanks
    Lisa

    1. Hi Lisa
It’s very unfortunate the Australia Post charge a small fortune to send books to NZ. Another courier company who I use for Australian deliveries has just announced they will be shipping to NZ for a cheaper fee, so keep an eye on an email coming out from me once this launches.

  5. HELP!! Trying to order the US paperback edition and the site to order is not working.
How can I order these books??

  6. Hi Rebecca,

I am feeling a little overwhelmed as in May this year was diagnosed with Candida overgrowth on which I have been working hand in hand with my Naturopath. I have been struggling to improve, so recently did the sibo breath test, which came back with mid range results. My question is do your books only have recipes or do they have more information about sibo and the different phases you need to progress through. Just feeling a little lost. Could you please explain as much as possible about your cookbooks. Hoping you can help. Regards Nola

    1. Hi Nola, the cookbooks contain information about SIBO as well as detailed information on the SIBO Bi Phasic Diet, the food lists and what you can/can’t eat during each phase. They also contain a heap of SIBO friendly recipes, which are all classified according to what phase they’re suitable for. Because Phase 1 Restricted is the most challenging phase for everyone, I’ve included more recipes for this phase than the two other phases. Make sure you check out my podcast as I’ve got a heap of really useful information there about SIBO: http://thehealthygut.com/podcast. And if you’re feeling really lost and confused, you may like to consider doing a 1-1 coaching call with me (http://thehealthygut.com/1on1-coaching-sessions/) or joining the group SIBO Coaching Program (http://thehealthygut.com/sibo-coaching-program/). I hope that helps!

  7. I am sending you heaps of thank you’s from Campbell River, B.C. Canada, for your cookbooks!

At your suggestion I went through Sprout Market in Vancouver and ordered your books. They arrived yesterday and I LOVE THEM!!! I am so excited to have the hard copies. Thank you, Rebecca!

Keep up your good work in helping all of us with SIBO.

  8. I wanted to say thank you for producing these cookbooks. I was lost before finding them as to what to eat and how I could prepare a meal, so I can honestly say your books were a saving grace. I have just finished Phase 1 and love the fact that phase 2 I can add some rice and quinoa as I lost way too much weight on phase 1.

Now, my daughter is about to start phase 1 so I have purchased your books for her as well.

    Thanks again for everything.
